The VMware vExpert applications are now open, how to apply?

The applications for the 2023 vExpert program opened on Monday, 12th of December 2022. The deadline is the 13th of January 2023. The link to the application is https://vexpert.vmware.com/apply.

What is the vExpert program?

vExpert program is designed for those who are passionate about VMware, home labbing, content creators, and public speakers. The VMware vExpert program is VMware’s global advocacy program that recognizes individuals for contributing their VMware knowledge and experience back to the global community.

If you feel that joining this group of VMware guru people is something you feel not up to, you are not alone. I felt exactly the same before I applied and it appeared my fears were unfounded.

The people in the vExpert program are simply technology-passionate people who are willing to help and share their knowledge.

Thanks to the vExpert program I become a better system engineer, not only I received the free licenses for my home lab, which helped me to develop my skills, but also I was able to meet great mind-like people, which enabled me to write a blog, creating video content and I am trying something new a podcast.

What are the benefits of the vExpert program?

First and foremost is the ability to take a part in the advance notice webinars and events hosted directly by VMware business units. Unlike public announcements, these advance notices are for vExperts only and happenings a way ahead of the public announcements. On the first hand, you can learn about new products, features, and collaboration with vendors.

One of the benefits people want to apply for is the free license keys for VMWare products. vExperts are receiving 365-day evaluation keys for pretty much the entire on-premises stack of VMware products. On top of that, there are some 3rd party vendor keys also for example Veeam, Vembu, Runecast Solutions, and Synergy.

Devolutions offers free NFR (Not for Resale) licenses to Microsoft MVP, Citrix CTP, Citrix CTA, VMware vExpert, NTC, and Veeam Vanguard for personal use and demo purposes.

If you are stuck on some issue, or bug on error, there is a Slack channel for vExperts. I used it many times myself. Apart from the serious stuff we have banter over there also.

We have meet-ups and parties, and sometimes even something bigger like this year’s surprise from VMware and Cohesity which was a NUC device for the home lab.
